**Note that some of these scams may no longer be used because AJ made a few nice changes to prevent them.

The "Flash Me" Scam

This is a very common scam I see on the server Aldan; it goes like this, "Best fast(flsh) trade gets my (whatever item they scam you for)! Must be 3 or 4 seconds! I trade back! Well, if they say "1-2 seconds" then you know they are extremely fast! Don't fall for it!! (also xmoocowx scammed me from my snow cloud. plz report her, she sucks butt nuggets.)

The Lion Code Lie

Suppose you are in Jamaa Township and you see a person in the crowd yelling "GO TO MY DEN TO GET LION CODE!" You want the lion code so you go to their den, at their den they say "Send me a gift and I give you the code!!!" Well, for your information, once a lion code is used, it's unusable for good. Don't fall for this one!
The Youtube Scam
Someone in Jamaa will say "Give me a rare so you can be in my cool new vid!" You send them a rare, and they run. They most likely don't even have a Youtube account. Or they will do a fake shot of you.
The YouTube Comment Scam
You're on YouTube, and you want a lion code or something like that for free. You look up free lion, arctic wolf, or snow leopard code, and a result comes up. Click one. Most of those videos will say on them "Leave your username and password in the comments for the code." DON'T DO THIS!!! IT IS MOST LIKELY A SCAM SO THEY CAN HACK INTO YOUR ACCOUNT AND STEAL STUFF! Most people who fall for it never get there rares back and the scammer runs off and sometimes even changes your password so you cannot access your account! The hacker/scammer may make you send them items that you own, and AJ can't replace that stuff. So never, EVER leave your password anywhere where people can see it! Try not to put your username either, because people can find random ways to hack. Ask yourself, Why would they need your username and password? One small test many players do is a harmless test: create a fake account put on something and check if it is hacked. This will prevent the hacking, however, they could chage the password. A way to fix this is to tell your parents to change the password on their parent dashboard. A way to show that they are not lying or not is make a new account with nothing on it and no gems. Since it is a useless account, it doesnt matter if he/she changes the password. Plus, they can not hack you if you have nothing.

The "I'm From Animal Jam" Scam

Let's say you have a rare or craved item. Then a player with a username like AJHQ or Animal Jam Crew sends you a buddy request. You think they're from AJ, so you accept. The "worker" comes to you and says, " Hello, I'm from Animal Jam." or something like that. Because of their username, you believe them. Then they say something like, "I wanted to let you know that (your rare or craved item) will be updated soon. I need to borrow yours so AJ HQ can work on the update." Then, because you think they're from Animal Jam, you send or trade them your item. Well, the stranger actually isn't from Animal Jam! He/she was just a regular player all along, and its username tricked you, and there wasn't an update at all. So the scammer runs with your item, and the REAL AJ can't replace it. Think about it. Why would AJ need to go into their '''''own game and' borrow an item? They can edit the game without going into it. Look out for this scam! (I have actually met someone who works @ AJ, they are very nice and don't demand anything)
The I'm Poor Scam
Lots of people do this scam.  You see someone in the town, (Usually a member) wearing no clothes or possibly the default animal colors, and saying, "SEND ME FREE ITEMS AND RARES I'M POOR!" If you send them a rare, they will just leave with your item or rare. Luckily, a good way to see if they're poor or not, you can look at their den. Usually, it's a good den with lots of stuff in it. But if their den is locked, look at their achievements, if there is an achievment saying "100,000 + gems" or vice versa they would be a scammer and a liar. Another way to check is to look at their other animals. If they have Epic Wonders clothing, they are probably not poor. But, either way you wouldn't want to send these people rares or items. Honestly! Does having the default colors make you poor? It doesn't cost anything to change them! If you see someone like this with the default colors, they're probably being a bit too overcautious in their scamming. And also, if you ARE a new player, you start with 1,000 gems.
The Make Me Silly Scam
Someone in Crystal Sands is dancing in circles saying something like "SEND ME ITEMS AND MAKE ME LOOK SILLY!!!" So you send an item to them. Half of the time, they won't even wear the item you send, and pocket the item/gems and book it.
The Gem Code Scam
This scam is more common than you might think. It's similar to the lion code scam, but with gems. The scammer often says "trade me rare for my gem code" because they want you to think they use the trade system. However, there is no way to trade gem codes like you do items. Therefore, you have to send your item before they will give you the gem code. Oftentimes, it's a lousy gem code like "explorer" or "bemybuddy" which get you less gems than most rares cost! (bemybuddy gets 500 and explorer gets 100 gems) Sometimes people don't scam using this scam. The best way is to send an UNWANTED rare like rare bat glasses. Other times, they may not even have a gem code, and will run with your item.

The Dating Scam
If you date on Animal Jam, watch out! Some scammers will dress in what they think are nice clothes and say "send me a rare and I'll date you!" So, wanting a date, you might send them your rare. They may just run with it, or date with you for a few minutes, un-buddy you, and scram. This scam is often popular among teenagers and other people who want to date who haunt Animal Jam.
The "My Dad Is Watching Me" Scam
Someone is dancing around saying "SEND ME A RARE FOR A RARE MY DAD IS WATCHING ME NOT A SCAM!" or something, so the person PRETENDS to not be a scammer. so you send a rare to that person and say "when are you giving me my rare?" and the person runs away keeping both rares. Their dad (or other parent) is not watching them, so avoid this trick! A way to test it is, if they don't have any rares, it's probably a scam. Another way to test it is, if they have a lot of rares or even just one rare, they most likely won't want to give anyof their rares away, so it's a scam.
The Free Membership Scam
Somebody is saying, "SEND ME (rare or cool item) AND I GIVE YOU FREE MEMBERSHIP!" It's a scam, and here's how. Animal Jam said themselves that they couldn't give out free membership. Plus, you need parent permission to buy membership, and it costs real money. So your parent has to go to the purchase membership screen, choose how long the membership will be, write down their paying method, their child's username and password, and I think their e-mail too. The scammer doesn't even know your password, your parents' way of paying for things, or their e-mail address, so it's a scam. Even if they say, "I bought it already", they used a different account, or their fibbing. Even if they say they will buy it after, DON'T DO IT!

The Fast Trade Scam
You have a rare on your list. Someone says, "Say yes to my trade now I need to go!".  You don't look at the items, and POW!  Say bye-bye to your rare! This is one of the most popular scams on Animal Jam, so be careful! (also xmoocowx scammed me from my snow cloud. plz report her)
The Membership Code Scam
Someone is saying "SEND ME RARES THEN GO TO MY DEN FOR MEMBERSHIP!!" so you send all your rares and go to the scammer's den, there should be a lot of people there, the scammer will say "ALRIGHT THE CODE IS" and then he or she will say "OH GTG!!! SORRY!!!" or they will tell you a fake membership code, or both. Don't do this whatsoever. There is no such thing as a membership code anyway, the only way to get it is to buy it with real money.

The Computer Problem Scam

Someone tells you that there is a problem with their computer and that trades won't show up. So they tell you to send them your item and they will send you theirs back. You will NOT get their item; they will just run off with yours, so be careful of this scam! They probably don't have trading problems. Trading is the only way to guarantee that you'll get something back.

The Contest Scam
Somebody is dancing around, saying, "WHOEVER SENDS ME THE BEST RARE GETS MY (name of cool item such as legend, fox hat, spike, ect.)!" You want their item, so you send them a rare, or possibly more than one rare. But unfortunately, this person is probably a scammer. The scammer will keep everyone's rares, and he/she won't give the item to anyone. A lot of people do this, so beware!

The Try On Scam
Let's say you're wearing a cool clothing item. Then someone walks up to you and asks, "Hey, can I try on your item?". So you send or trade them the clothing item because you think you're being nice. Although you're being generous, you're also being scammed. The scammer will say something like, "Oh, got to go! I will give it back tomorrow!" or, "Thanks!". Then the scammer will run with your item and not give it back.

The "Are You Cool?" Scam
Somebody is saying, "SEND ME RARES OR BETAS OR ELSE YOU'RE NOT COOL! IF YOU DON'T SEND THEM TO ME YOU'RE A LOSER!" You want to be considered cool, so you send a rare or beta. You're not the loser, the scammer is! The scammer won't care though, and he/she will run with your items. Don't believe people like this. You're cool, and you know it. So don't do this!

The Cool Glitch Scam
Somebody is yelling, "SEND ME A RARE AND I SHOW YOU A COOL GLITCH!" You want to know the glitch, so you send a rare. The scammer will either run with your rare, give you a fake glitch, or both. Don't do this no matter what. Glitches may end up ruining the game anyway, and a rare isn't worth a way to do a glitch.

The Unwanted Member Account Scam

You see someone in Town saying "Come to my den for my unwanted member account!" So you go to their den and they have a LOT of cool stuff, right? They say "Whoever is the first to send me your password gets my account!" So you give them your password and they might say "oh sorry guys I have to go!" Or they might Jam-a-Gram you a fake password. And guess what they are REALLY doing? They are hacking into YOUR account with ALL your rares, betas, and other valuables, and leaving you with nothing. Best way to avoid this: Test the password FIRST and then give them a password to another account with one cool thing on it. See what they do.
